Weekly Surprise

Once a week (at least) I clean under our couch, entertainment center
and any other piece of furniture that is not flat on the ground.  It has become
a family event…the kids get sooo excited when I tell them that we are going
to clean the floors.  Why?  Because of this…

IMG_1848

The treasures we find!!  Wow!

Not pictured…the dust, millions of cheerios, pieces of paper,
crumbs and other little things.

Oh what fun it is to clean the floors…now if I could get them excited about
cleaning other things!!

All Tied Up

My mom called me today and said that she found a really
cute idea in one of her country magazines.  It was little glass
bottles tied together with twine and used as vases.  She sent
over the picture with a little note “I like these”  Which translates into
”Can you make this for me?”  I love to try new things and I really, really
like this idea.  I can see more of these in our future…what a great way
to brighten up someone’s day.  Maybe a neighbor, friend, teacher….

I used 3D glue dots to hold the jars together.  The next time I make
them, I will use smaller glue dots.  Then I applied Elmers glue onto
the jars and wrapped the twine around them.  Baby wipes are great
for cleaning up glue smears.

I wanted to take a picture tonight of the vases with flowers in
them (I am slightly impatient and waiting until tomorrow was not
an option…haha!)  So, at 8:25pm I was trying to cut semi decent
roses from our rose garden.  Not to bad considering it was
quite dark outside!

Jumping Into Spring

I will say, this is my favorite time of the year.

IMG_1721 IMG_1725 IMG_1729

Planting, digging, scooping…making a mess! We love it

Kelly (my almost 7 year old) and bugs are like…
peanut butter and jelly
bread and butter
salt and pepper
…you get it, they just go together (in a good way!)

She is the first to spot a bug, spider, lizard…anything
that moves and breathes…she will find it.

For the last 2 days, she has been working on a Roly Poly House.
Here is a picture of the bedroom…yes, there are roly poly’s in there.

IMG_1733

…and the bedroom with more additions

IMG_1746

…and the sign so people know who lives there

IMG_1747

…as I type, she is working on the “living room” complete with a couch, table,
lamp, bridge and whatever else her little imagination thinks of.
What lucky roly poly’s :) Our rule is she can play with them during the day
but at night, they go back to their “real homes”

Flying In….

On the side, I like to dabble with making invitations.
Most of them are done by digital scrapbooking but some
of them are handmade by me!

A friend from MOPS is celebrating her son’s 2nd birthday
in Texas, their old stomping grounds. They now live here in
SoCal but will be visiting friends and family when Reid turns 2!

The theme is airplanes! Here are the invites

IMG_1704

…and the cupcake toppers (minus the toothpicks attached to the back…
not so sure if the airlines would “okay” that!)

IMG_1705

…all wrapped up and ready to go!

IMG_1709

Happy Birthday Reid!

If you are interested in invitations and have questions about
themes and prices…email me! Tell me that you are a fellow
blogger and I will throw in matching address labels!!

Cute Shirt…

This cute birthday shirt was made from my friend
Erin over at Haute Tots. She has some cute stuff on her
Etsy site and her blog, Bringing Up Burns is one of my
favorite daily reads.

This cute kid does not come with the shirt! :)

Herbs

We planted mini herb gardens in MOPS the other day.
Each mom planted in a 2” pot…parsley, basil, chives and cilantro.
I found these cute metal pots and trays at IKEA (LOVE that place!!).

Empty Crate

For my husbands birthday we went to Las Vegas.
While we were there, we stopped at a few antique shops.
I came home with some fun finds!
One booth had wine crates. They were marked $5 each
and everything was 60% off. What a deal. I knew I wanted
them but was not sure exactly what for.
The first one I made into a little shelf for our living room.
IMG_1386 IMG_1387 IMG_1388

IMG_1389

After I painted it, I used a sand block to distress the sides and since I had
the black paint out, I painted a few blocks.

Here is the finished shelf and two photo blocks

Now…what should I do with the other two???? Any ideas?

E = 3

A mom from my MOPS group has a sweet little girl
who just turned three! Her favorite color is purple and I found
a cute purple/paisley material at Wal-Mart for $1. The shirt was
from there as well and it was only $3! Little Elsie has her purple shirt!
